How to find modulus?

How to find modulus of a very large number.
Heres the simplest way to find modulus of a very large number..
example
100000 mod 119
ind mo
step1
divide 100000 by 119 = 840 (discard numbers after decimal)

step2
multiply it by divisor
840*119=99960

subract resulting no from original dividend
100000-99960=40
